There are no second takes on your wedding day. You only get one shot at this so let’s get it right. Richard Finlay is a multi-award-winning wedding videographer and filmmaker. For almost a decade now, Richard has been one of Ireland’s most sought-after full-time wedding cinematographers, the favorite choice of celebrities and well known personalities at home and abroad, covering weddings from big to small and everything in between. He was recently chosen by Oscar nominee Naomi Sheridan (daughter of filmmaking legend Jim Sheridan) to film her wedding. His other work ranges from filming the likes of Metallica (two concerts back to back in Copenhagen for a DVD/Blu-Ray release) to Bill Clinton.

Richard trained in filmmaking at The New York Film Academy (widely recognized as the best film school in the world). He was voted Wedding Videographer of the Year by the brides and grooms of Ireland in Ireland’s first ever online wedding awards. There was no campaigning for votes on Richard’s behalf in order to receive the nomination. In the same year, he was also shortlisted for Wedding Videographer of the Year at the Weddings Online Awards. In 2008, Richard was ranked among the best videographers in the world by Martin Rhodes of the DV Awards, when he won two awards including Outstanding Wedding Videography. It was the first time that an Irish entrant won in the category of Wedding & Event Videography.

A limited number of bookings are taken per year so we can guarantee that your wedding story is given the full time and dedication it deserves. Wedding videos are boring. Bride & Groom Films don’t make traditional wedding video Richard carefully handcrafts your unique wedding story using the imagery and sounds of your day into a timeless wedding film that you will want to watch again and again, and will be happy to show to others. We don’t film your day your way (whatever that means).

Richard is a master wedding storyteller once you book Richard, you don’t have to do anything else except show up on your wedding day and enjoy yourself, surrounded by your friends and loved ones. Your day is shot discreetly and unobtrusively by Richard, careful not to make a big production of your wedding, but also employing cinematic shooting techniques using Steadicams, jibs, sliders etc where appropriate. The trick, or dare we say the art, is to shoot your day in a fly-on-the wall reportage/documentary style, but then fashion a cinematic wedding film from that.

Your film (usually) includes edited coverage from the preparations that morning all the way up to the first few dances, but we are happy to tailor a package to suit your tastes and requirements. Your wedding DVD/Blu-Ray ends with a short film highlights section entitled Moments. You are provided with a link to your short film on your own webpage for sharing with friends and family on social media around the world. Richard will be your official videographer and editor, and you deal with him from start to finish, from enquiry and booking to final edit and delivery. We don’t outsource filming or editing work at any time. Richard’s promise to you is that you, your loved ones and guests, will hardly know he’s there. We work well with wedding photographers of all styles, which is probably why we are constantly recommended by them. Your wedding photographer is free to do his or her job on the day, and we do ours independently and separately, and there is never a clash.
