Rahinston, Summerhill, Co. Meath launches as an Exclusive Wedding and Private Party Venue from January 2017
Launching in the Spring of 2017, Rahinston will open as a unique Wedding and Party Hire Venue. The historic private house is located outside the Village of Summerhill, County Meath. Rahinston offers a fresh and welcome alternative to existing wedding and party venues on the market.
Offering access to one of Ireland’s most historic private country houses, only 40 minutes from Dublin city-centre, Rahinston’s old-world style has hosted many wonderful parties over the years and now can be enjoyed by the public.
Victorian reception & dinning rooms feature elaborately stuccoed ceilings, ancestral portraits, with glimmering chandeliers and crackling open fires all setting a tone of relaxed elegance. On site accommodation ranges from glamping facilities to four-poster beds in the house’s traditional bedrooms with additional guests being accommodated locally through a number of premium accommodation partners.
Rahinston House has been one of Meath’s best kept secrets until now. Nestled amidst 700 acres of rolling parkland, enchanted woodland and pleasure gardens offering breathtaking photographic & filming backdrops. Through collaboration with carefully selected event-hire partners, design specialists and leading wedding suppliers & caterers including names such as LPM Bohemia, Honeydew Events and Appassionata Flowers, a Rahinston wedding will be as unique as their client’s personal taste and individual style.
For centuries, Rahinston has been a gathering place for the great, the good and occasionally the infamous with names such as Empress Sisi of Austria often entertained in the house as she hunted across Meath during 1879 & 1880. Other colourful characters synonymous with Rahinston include Captain Harry Fowler, Archbishop Robert Fowler, 1936 Olympic silver medalist & World War II veteran; Brigadier Fowler as well as his son, John Fowler & his wife, Lady Chich Fowler, daughter of the Marquess of Donegal, whom enjoyed great success training over four decades including the Irish Grand National winner in Maid of Money. John’s sister Jessica Harrington is a renowned racehorse trainer and a pioneer within the industry as the first successful lady trainer in Irish racing. With many Cheltenham festival winners featuring in her illustrious training career including stars; Moscow Flyer and Jezki. Jessica Harrington was first married at Rahinston and has fondly noted that:-“the house and gardens at Rahinston are so special and beautiful, it’s a wonderful location to celebrate any occasion”
The estate is now home to Harry Fowler, a former amateur jockey and current director at Tattersalls Ireland and his wife Lorna, a horse racing presenter and successful trainer of the renowned Bradburne racing dynasty based in the UK and Scotland. In addition to their busy careers and looking after their two boisterous children; Rosie, 4 and Johnny 2 they run the estate which Harry & Lorna inherited following the untimely passing of Harry’s parents in the recent past.
Since coming into ownership of the estate, Harry & Lorna are tirelessly up keeping and restoring Rahinston to its former racing and entertaining glory. Commenting on Rahinston’s entry into the Wedding & Private Hire Market, Lorna Fowler noted:-“This is a house that was born to throw a good party, of which there have been many legendary ones over the past two centuries! We are opening our doors as a wedding and private hire venue to offer our guests something truly special and unique in this magical place that is Rahinston.”
Rahinston Wedding & Party Venue is also available for private parties, corporate & charity events. By partnering with premium suppliers, Rahinston can accommodate all parties from guests seeking intimate celebratory dinners in the formal dining rooms to large weddings of up to 300 guests in an adjoining marquee on the infinity lawns dining on sumptuous, seasonally-adjusted menus using the freshest of ingredients from Rahinston’s own vegetable gardens & sourced locally from the finest organic and artisan producers
